A tourist eating. June 8, 2005
By Lisa Murray.
A very expressive picture. The black and white contrast helps to show the emotion on his face which is also the the point of entry.
The lines of his Polo shirt and the lines of the ceiling create a visually appealing composition.
Fruit Market, June 8, 2005
By Yini Rodriguez.
This picture is all about colors and composition. There are only fruits such as bright yellow lemons, red apples, oranges...
The Pizza Parlor sign
By Valencia Chapman.
Although it is a small sign, the picture looks huge. At this angle, you would believe that this pizza parlor is really the center of the life of the people living in the building in the background of the picture. The graffiti is secondary information, but it helps to create the idea of a place that longs to be part of the neighborhood as well as the community.
Boricua Flags, Fordham Road, June 8 2005
By Isis Harris. Colors, information, quality of light, and composition.
A very informative active image a few days before the Puerto Rican Parade.
A building, Lehman
The color of the light coming through the trees, the foreground of vegetation and the background of the building are all factors that make this a great piece of photography. The whole picture could be a point of entry to the viewer.
Law Office sign on Kingsbridge Road
A big sign on Kingsbridge Road. The color composition, made of the sign of the sign and the buildings impacts the viewer.
June 9, Crowds, food, signs of the Bronx
The assignment was to take pictures of restaurants, food vendors, crowds and signs around Lehman College.
Valencia took a picture of a Pizza parlor sign on Kingsbridge Road that was chosen to be on page three of the paper. The angle she choose to take the picture creates a feeling of proximity between the buildings and a sign that does not exist in reality.
The colors of the sign in the foreground and the buildings in the background work as complimentary information.(www.valenciachapman.blogspot.com)
Isis went to Fordham Road and took the picture of a crowd in front of a vendor of Puerto rican flags; very busy because of the Puerto Rican Parade. The light of day, the colorful image and the richness of information in this active image, makes this a beautiful picture.
Patrice found a very visually appealing Law-Office sign painted on the side wall of a building, and took a sequence of pictures of a man packaging cheese in the Subway store. Lisa took an interesting picture of the shoes hanging behind a sign on the corner of 188th and Grand Concourse.
Yini took a visually appealing picture of fruits on the market because of all the different colors of the products.
