The assignment was to take pictures of restaurants, food vendors, crowds and signs around Lehman College.
Valencia took a picture of a Pizza parlor sign on Kingsbridge Road that was chosen to be on page three of the paper. The angle she choose to take the picture creates a feeling of proximity between the buildings and a sign that does not exist in reality.
The colors of the sign in the foreground and the buildings in the background work as complimentary information.(www.valenciachapman.blogspot.com)
Isis went to Fordham Road and took the picture of a crowd in front of a vendor of Puerto rican flags; very busy because of the Puerto Rican Parade. The light of day, the colorful image and the richness of information in this active image, makes this a beautiful picture.
Patrice found a very visually appealing Law-Office sign painted on the side wall of a building, and took a sequence of pictures of a man packaging cheese in the Subway store. Lisa took an interesting picture of the shoes hanging behind a sign on the corner of 188th and Grand Concourse.
Yini took a visually appealing picture of fruits on the market because of all the different colors of the products.
